WHAT THE ROLE IS ALL ABOUT! 

Based in our Winnipeg Office and reporting directly to the Corporate Controller, the Accounting Analyst will be an integral part of our Accounting & Finance Department while being accountable to manage, analyze, and produce detailed reports and metrics for all financial aspects related to Sigfusson Northern’s Equipment & Logistics department. The Accounting Analyst will collaborate with various supervisors to ensure accurate, compliant, and timely cost tracking procedures to increase efficiency and effectiveness of the overall accounting and equipment and logistic operations.

ESSENTIAL CONTRIBUTIONS WE NEED FROM YOU!

  • Analyze and maintain accurate records of equipment and logistic related expenses including leasing, financing, insurance, repairs, maintenance, licensing, and depreciation.
  • Prepare and reconcile monthly, quarterly, and annual equipment and logistics financial statements.
  • Track, report, and manage capital expenditures for new equipment and fleet acquisitions and disposals.
  • Record and analyze depreciation, amortization, and asset adjustments in compliance with accounting standards.
  • Ensure all units are assigned hourly and monthly charge out rates for charging fleet, equipment, and logistic assets to various Sigfusson Northern projects.
  • Support and contribute to accounting and equipment and logistic audits by providing detailed documentation related to equipment and logistic assets and expenditures.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain dashboards and KPIs to track equipment and fleet utilization, cost per mile/hour, fuel efficiency, and total cost of ownership.
  • Provide financial insight, direction, and support to department managers with budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.
  • Collaborate with direct supervisor to support and assist with overall the fleet, equipment, and departmental operating and capital expenditure budget.
  • Prepare, analyze, and provide detailed reports on equipment and logistics operating costs. 

WHAT WILL MAKE YOU A POSITIVE IMPACT? 

  • Proven experience in accounting and equipment or logistic operations, or transportation, construction, or the equipment industry.
  • A degree or diploma from a recognized accounting, finance, or related field. Working towards or aspirations to work towards a CPA designation is strongly preferred.
  • Experience with SAP Concur and/or Spectrum software will be considered a beneficial asset or established experience in a large ERP system showcasing technical abilities.
  • Experience in Tableau, Power BI or proven experience in other reporting tools will be considered a great asset.
  • MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook). Able to perform pivot tables, v-looks ups etc.
  • Proven understanding of fixed assets, depreciation, and cost allocations.
  • Prioritizes the health, safety, quality, and environmental standards of the employees, company, project environments and strives to hold a strong safety record.
  • The ability to promote and ensure compliance with company policies and procedures effectively and professionally.
  • Understand the importance of collaboration with various departments to ensure success for the entire company.

  • Familiarity with productivity tracking, time entry systems, and reporting tools.
  • In-depth knowledge and willingness to continually learn accounting and finance legislation, employment laws, practices, and standards.
  • Ability to provide and receive constructive feedback, and the ability to manage and resolve conflicts in a professional manner.
  • Recognizes the importance of constructive and effective working relationships with both internal and external team members and individuals.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, always changing environment, which requires critical thinking and last-minute priority adjustments.
  • Must be able to present a clear security clearance check prior to commencing employment and if required, throughout employment.
  • Must have a valid Class 5 driver’s license.
