New Gold Mine Operations Crushing

When New Gold’s main crusher went down for repair Sigfusson Northern was called in to crush ore to allow the mill to continue processing. New Gold processes ore both from their open pit and underground mining operations through a crusher before the material is fed through their mill.

Sigfusson mobilized four jaw crushers to site on short notice to ensure the mine operations could continue unphased.

The project involved two phases. The first was to mobilize to site and crush 300,000 tonnes of ore then demobilize. That amount was to allow the mine to remain operational until the repairs to the crusher were complete. Sigfusson completed the quantity, discussed with the client, and began to demobilize equipment from site. As the equipment left site the second phase began. New Gold realized the repairs to their crusher were more serious than initially expected. With an undetermined date for the crusher to back running Sigfusson was requested to remobilize to site to crush an additional 400,000 tonnes.

The project was a success, SNL was able to demonstrate their ability to act on short notice and with a sense of urgency to satisfy client needs.
