Project Description
Construction of the new TCN Lagoon and Blower building in October of 2016. Due to site conditions work was suspended on hauling activities in October 2016 and resumed early December 2016 through January 2017. A seasonal shutdown occurred through the winter months with construction activities commencing June 2017 and continuing through November 2017. All major work items were completed during the 2017 constructions season with a limited number of smaller items to be completed following the 2017/2018 season winter shut down.
The main scope of work for this project involved the hauling and stockpiling of all the borrow material for the lagoon dikes. Due to the site conditions it was necessary to complete all of the offsite borrow excavation in the winter months under frozen conditions and to allow us to continue lagoon dike construction through the summer months. Upon completion of the dike, construction subcontractors mobilized to site in the fall of 2017 to complete the liner installation and the degassing piping.
During the 2018 construction season the balance of the work will be completed. Currently the work is scheduled to start mid to early June and last approx. 3-4 weeks. Major work items remaining to be complete are the commissioning of the blower building, installation of the fencing, reclamation and final site grading and seeding.
As of December 2017, the primary cell 1 is ready to receive effluent. An orientation will be completed to familiarize the septic truck operators with the procedures and proper operating techniques of the truck dump at the new lagoon site.
In December of 2017, Part B was awarded to Amisk Construction which consisted of the installation of gravity sewer, forcemain, water main and a truck dump and lift station in the Whisky Jack area. Material has begun being procured for this and mobilization is currently under way. The project will allow the septic truck operators to use this truck dump instead of going all the way out the access road and crossing PR280. It will also be the first phase in the connection of the Whisky Jack Area. This work is scheduled to commence end of January 2018 with much of the work being complete by Mid to end of March 2018. Due to summer construction requirements for certain items a season shutdown will occur from the end of March 2018 to mid-June 2018 where the balance of the works on the truck dump and lift station will be completed and commissioned.
